May 14-17, 2022 Grand Canyon Rim to Rim Day Hike

Join WeGetWater.org on this challenging bucket-list adventure for a Rim-to-Rim hiking trip in iconic Grand Canyon National Park. We will have two different groups with slightly different itineraries:

Group I: Our 22-mile, 12 hour or more hike will begin on the South Rim at the South Kaibab Trail on May 15, where we will hike down to the Colorado River and then up to the North Rim and stay overnight at Kaibab Lodge. We will descend 5,000 feet and ascend 7,000 feet to the North Rim in just one day!

Group II: The 24-mile, 12 hour or more hike will begin on the North Rim at the North Kaibab Trail on May 16 descending down to the Colorado River. The views from this trail are framed by massive cliffs as we descend to the Colorado River. As we navigate the 5,000 foot elevation gain back up on the Bright Angel Trail, we will see more plant life and animal life than on other South Rim trails.

For those in extremely fit condition, they may choose to do these two very challenging hikes on successive days, May 15-16, 2022 after a night’s sleep at Kaibab Lodge on the North Rim on the evening of May 15. Those who don’t hike back will take the $90.00 van shuttle back or perhaps we will work out with others in our group to drive their vehicle from the North Rim to the South Rim (about a 4 ½ hour drive). Reservations for the shuttle, if needed, will be made by participants themselves after registration and consultation with event organizers.

Please note this event may be canceled if the weather is deemed too severe. Because of the challenging nature of this hike, only experienced hikers in very good condition will be considered for this trip.

All participants will be making a $1,000 suggested donation to WeGetWater.org. WGW uses 100% of all donations to bring clean water to villages around the world without clean water.
